The project
Twenty years after the fall of the Berlin Wall two photographers together with two journalists, a director and a cartoonist travelled along the Iron Curtain, the 6.300 km long border that used to split Europe in two blocks from the end of World War II to 1989.
As a result of this experience, The Iron Curtain Diaries 1989-2009 project was born. Shortlisted at the first edition of the France 24-RFI Web Documentary Award in Visa pour l'Image 2009, The Iron Curtain Diaries 1989-2009 is a coproduction of Peacereporter, On/Off, prospekt fotografi, BeccoGiallo.
Awards and Recognitions
The Iron Curtain Diaries 1989-2009 has been shortlisted at the first edition of the France 24-RFI Web Documentary Award in Visa pour l'Image 2009, as one of the 9 best web documentary worldwide.
It has been shortlisted by the Festival De 4 Ecrans of Paris.
It has been shortlisted by IDFA International Documentary Film Festival of Amsterdam.
Events
The iron Curtain Diaries will be projected at the Regional Council of Piedmont and the World Political Forum, an original idea of the Nobel Prize Laureate Mikhail Gorbachev, will organize in Turin a public discussion on the theme: “1989 - Year of the political Earthquake in Europe“.
On November 9th, it will be screened at the Festival of Freedom in Berlin.

In occasione del ventennale della caduta del Muro di Berlino il sito web del progetto multimediale I Diari della Cortina 1989-2009 verrà aperto in chiaro.Dalle 00:01 del 9 novembre alle 23:59 dell'11 novembre 2009.
Il Progetto
A vent'anni dalla caduta del muro di Berlino, due fotografi, due giornalisti, un regista e un fumettista hanno ripercorso la Cortina di ferro, il confine lungo 6.300 Km che ha diviso l'Europa
in due blocchi dalla fine della seconda guerra mondiale sino al 1989.
Da questa esperienza nasce il progetto The Iron Curtain Diaries 1989-2009, che è stato selezionato tra i finalisti della prima edizione del France 24-RFI Web Documertary Award di Visa pour l'Image 2009.
The Iron Curtain Diaries 1989-2009 è una coproduzione Peacereporter, On/Off, prospekt fotografi, BeccoGiallo.
Premi e Riconoscimenti
I Diari Della Cortina 1989 - 2009 è entrato nella short list di Visa Pour l'Image 2009 per il concorso di France24, selezionato tra i migliori 9 web documentari del mondo.
E' stato selezionato per la fase finale dal Festival De 4 Ecrans a Parig e dal prestigioso IDFA- International Documentary Film Festiva di Amsterdam.
Eventi correlati
Il 9 novembre Bonsai TV manderà in onda sulle sue piattaforme, il web (www.yalp.it o www.bonsai.tv) e la TV (canale 10 di Alice Home TV), le 35 mini interviste dei Diari della Cortina, sottotitolate in italiano.
Uno speciale comprensivo di tutte le 40 storie per una durata di 3 ore; a seguire tre appuntamenti sui lunedì successivi da un'ora cadauno; inoltre dal 2/11 partirà alle 20.15 una striscia quotidiana di 15' in onda per tutto il mese di novembre.
Il 9 novembre viene proiettato presso il Festival of Freedom di Berlino, in occasione dei festeggiamenti ufficiali per l'anniversario della caduta del Muro.
Il 9 novembre viene proiettato nel corso dell'evento organizzato dal World Political Forum e dalla Regione Piemonte: "1989: Year of the political Earthquake in Europe" a Torino, Palazzo Lascaris.
Dal 9 novembre al 3 dicembre il progetto I Diari Della Cortina 1989 - 2009 partecipa all'evento-mostra sulla caduta del Muro “Another break in the wall” presso la Wannabee Gallery di Milano.
