For those who couldn't be present at the vernissage, there will be a meet with the author of La Habana 1993, Friday 6th of November 2009.Ivo Saglietti:
In the middle of the 90's a city and its people is engraved and real as we will never see it again.
“In 1993 I was given a commission in Cuba for the Anniversary of the Moncada Assault, July 26th. «It is going to be the last commemoration», were murmuring the well informed. I could have done it other 16 times. I brought two books with me: Siglos de las Luces, by Alejo Carpentier and Havana 1933, by Walker Evans. At the end of my job on the celebrations, I decided to revisit Havana 60 years later, looking for Walker Evans's places and images.
These photos, hidden or forgotten in my archives until today, are the result of that pilgrimage”

Per tutti coloro che non sono riusciti a essere presenti all'inaugurazione della mostra lo scorso 12 ottobre, Venerdì 6 Novembre ci sarà un incontro con l'autore di La Habana 1993.Ivo Saglietti:
Nel 1993 sono stato inviato a Cuba per seguire il 26 di Luglio l'anniversario dell'assalto alla caserma Moncada, evento che dette il via alla rivoluzione cubana. "Questa sara' l'ultima commemorazione" si mormorava allora. Avrei potuto seguirne altre altre 16. Anche questa e' Cuba. In quei giorni avevo con me due libri: "Siglos de las Luces" di Alejo Carpentier e "Havana 1933" di Walker Evans. E' stato quest'ultimo a spingermi a rimanere all'Havana alla ricerca dei luoghi e delle atmosfere che avevo trovato nel libro. Queste immagini, che fino ad oggi sono rimaste nascoste o dimenticate tra le pieghe del mio archivio sono il risultato di questo pellegrinaggio lento e solitario".
